Parmareggio was founded in 1983 in Montecavolo di Quattro Castella, in the area Parmigiano Reggiano originated from, and became a world leader in the production and sale of Parmigiano Reggiano cheese over just a few years. Parmareggio seasons and packages Parmigiano Reggiano, packaging grated cheese and other cheeses in portions and in slices.
With two production plants in Modena and Montecavolo di Quattro Castella (RE) it is the reference company for the Parmigiano Reggiano market. Parmareggio is the heart of an integrated production and sale system headed by Granterre Group, founded over 50 years ago, which now leads the world’s sale of Parmigiano Reggiano cheese.
The supervisory board
The adoption of an organisational model is a necessary but not sufficient requirement to apply for liability exemption.

The task to monitor the operation, observance and update of the organisational model must be appointed to a specific supervisory board provided with autonomous powers of initiative and control.

The Board of Directors has approved a detailed document that regulates its operation. In particular, it has appointed a Supervisory Board as a collegial body formed by two external professionals – one of which is the Chair – and the Group's Internal Audit. The tasks, powers, cases of ineligibility and expiration of the Supervisory Board have been established.

The main tasks of the Supervisory Board are:

  • monitoring the effectiveness of the Model and its observance by employees, corporate bodies, consultants and business partners to the extent required from each of them;

  • monitoring the effectiveness and suitability of the Model with respect to the organisational structure and the actual ability to prevent the crimes as set forth in Italian Legislative Decree 231/2001;

  • verifying the need to update the Model with respect to changed business and/or regulatory conditions;

  • monitoring the adequacy of the delegation system and responsibilities assigned in order to ensure the effectiveness of the Model.

Particular attention was paid to the information flow to and from the Supervisory Board, in order for it to be able, on the one hand, to report the results of its activities and any criticality to the Board of Directors and to the Board of Auditors and, on the other, to carry out its task in the best possible way.

The Supervisory Board must be informed, through reports by the subjects that must comply with the Model, of any events that can cause Parmareggio's liability as set forth in Italian Legislative Decree 231/2001.

Reports can be sent in hardcopy to:

The members of the Supervisory Board ensure the confidentiality of the information they handle – in particular, with reference to possible reports of Model violation – and shall refrain from seeking or using confidential information for purposes nonconforming with the functions of the Supervisory Board, unless expressly authorised.
In any event, the members of the Supervisory Board must handle any information in compliance with the laws in force and, in particular, with Italian Legislative Decree 196/2003 (“Personal data protection code”).

Non-compliance with these obligations implies the automatic disqualification of the member of the Board.
